Study background
Insomnia and anxiety affect many patients with gynecological cancer receiving chemotherapy. Non-pharmacological options for treating these disorders are limited.
Study details
This study involved 76 patients who received either electroacupuncture combined with cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), or sham electroacupuncture with the same therapy. The study lasted 4 weeks and measured various parameters related to sleep and anxiety.
Significant results
The results show that the group receiving electroacupuncture experienced a greater reduction in sleep disturbances and anxiety. For example, 71.1% of patients in the electroacupuncture group achieved a low insomnia score, compared to 42.1% in the control group. Additionally, no serious adverse reactions were reported.
